Drawing

By experimenting I have found if I make the contour of a shape with a rapid, singular graphite line, woven, looped and knotted on a surface while observing the subject more than the work itself, I can create an interesting, energized composition to work with. It provides structure for adding values to the drawing, patterns or implied texture. I also use this contour drawing process to create the beginning framework for my paintings and sculpture.
